Alison Theaker is a senior lecturer at Marjon College, the college of St mark and St John, Plymouth, UK. She is also a fellow of the Institute of Public Relations and also a co-author of 'effective Media Relations'.

Her book 'The Public Relations Handbook' cover many relevant topics in PR. It has four main parts namely

'The context of public relations, Strategic public relations, Stakeholder public relations and lastly Shaping the future of public relations".

All main parts have sub-topics which give detailed explanations on specific topics. The language used in writing the book is simple and straight forward. She also uses a lot of illustrations and examples to facilitate easy understanding. For e.g, she included a survey in which respondents attributed the poor image of PR to the fact that anyone can claim to be a practitioner. What I like most about the book is that, it features many interesting and educative articles from other PR scholars such as Johanna Fawkes, Anne Gregory, Emma Wood, Ian Somerville and many more. Alison, also draws on her rich experience in PR in writing her book. I will recommend her book to PR students, practitioners, educators and all PR lovers.
